My Own Special Comment.
Posted by nico under: Life as we know it .
Finally tonight, as not promised nor predicted, a special comment on the hypocrisy of the originator of the special comments, Keith Olbermann.
I read an article about you and voting the other day. At first I didn’t believe it. Someone as opinionated and passionate about the issues as you are would have to vote, right? Surely this was just a smear from some other network in a feeble attempt to lower your ratings and thereby your influence. I clicked on the link, watched the video, and to my horror listened as you “explained” why you didn’t vote. I have one word for you. Phony.
I used to be one of your most loyal viewers. I respected the battles you chose, and believed that you chose them because you actually cared about them. I thought you and I were two of a kind. I truly believed that you wanted to not only see, but also play a role in changing this world for the better. I could not have been more wrong. You have shown me that I was just naive to believe that you actually had a claim in all of this; that you actually had substance to back up your wordy tirades and camera changes. You just say what you think we want to hear and consequently garner a loyal fanbase and a hefty salary. I am more than disappointed in you sir. I am disgusted.
How can you sit there and preach about sir this and sir that if you sir don’t even take the effort to vote? And no, I don’t want to hear your pathetic little Zach Braff excuse. That, sir is just a sorry excuse from a man who still thinks like a boy.
I no longer take you seriously. You don’t even care enough to vote, so why should I take anything you have to say seriously? People have struggled, fought, and died for your right to vote and you sit there analyzing why you don’t take advantage of their battles. We don’t need to hear your pathetic attempt at reason. I can tell you in one word why you don’t vote. Phony.
You are no better than the O’Reillys and Limbaughs of the world that you (rightfully) claim to be the worst persons. While they found a niche in right wing media, you chose the left. Your fulminations about this issue or that issue go on and on about why it’s wrong, but by not voting you’ve shown me that you don’t really believe what you’re saying. Your double talk about not voting when your reason clearly goes against everything you condemn during your show. During your little “explanation” you said something about just being one voice in New York and gave the impression that because of that your vote didn’t really matter anyway.
One voice does matter. No matter if you’re in NY or KY. One voice has always mattered and will always make a difference. Without that one voice, we have nothing. Wasn’t it our President Elect who told us that if “one voice can change a room, and if one voice can change a room it can change a group, if one voice can change a group then it can change a community, and that one voice can then change a state and change the country.”
You, sir are a joke and I am done with you.

How did you find out about Keith Olbermann not voting, I have never heard about that?
I know every vote counts, but is it not a personal choice if you vote or not…..it’s not mandatory!

Carol, I don’t care whether someone votes or not. That’s yet another great thing about this country. We have the choice to vote or not to vote. But this is someone who makes a living telling us his opinions on political matters. That is the definition of hypocrisy. He has a responsibility to back up his words with actions and he chooses not to so as not to seem “biased”. That to me is a silly excuse. I mean at least be honest and say “Hey I just don’t want to!”

Love it and I agree. I’m no fan Keith Olbermann and his over-dramatic whiny special comments, and after watching The View and hear his reason for not voting I was surprised and appalled.
He also seemed to suggest that since he lives in New York that his vote really doesn’t matter since new york is going for the democrat anyways. Even though Olbermann is better than Fox News and definitely better than Limbaugh a whole, I still find him to laughable. My other issue with Olbermann is that he criticizes Fox News for being partisan (we would all agree), but Olbermanns whole show is partisan, you never see any republicans on his show…and republicans re the ones who provide the entertainment when they try to explain their views.

I do agree that Keith should have folks from both parties on his show and challenge them both, it would be nice to see someone other than Fox etc have the Republicans on…although, Rachel Maddow does a pretty good job.
